Incident Overview
18-year-old Campbell Thorp died after he was struck by two vehicles while crossing Hindley Street in Adelaide’s CBD on Saturday night, 1 August 2026. The Toyota sedan hit him first, causing him to fall into the path of a 4WD. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition but could not be saved.

- Fatality: 18-year-old Campbell Thorp, a first-year carpentry apprentice, was taken to hospital in a critical condition and died.
Emergency ResponseParamedics treated Campbell at the scene and rushed him to hospital. Hindley Street was closed for several hours while major crash investigators examined the scene, reopening around 2.15am on Sunday.
Police InvestigationMajor crash investigators examined the scene. The 7NEWS report does not state a final finding about the cause of the collision or legal responsibility.
Community ImpactFamily, friends, Campbell’s football club, training centre and former school paid tribute to him after his death. The report also stated that the South Australian Government was considering ways to reduce pedestrian fatalities.
