    • The 54-year-old driver of the Mercedes Benz, from Nirimba, was not physically injured.

Police and paramedics arrived shortly after reports of the crash were received. The scene was secured and the Bruce Highway was likely subject to traffic control measures. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

The Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident. Areas under review include:

  • Visibility, lighting, and driver response time in the moments leading up to the collision
  • Any dashcam footage from vehicles travelling along that stretch of highway before 5:30 pm
