A 17-year-old girl is fighting for life after being struck by a speeding car during a pre-arranged car meet in Burswood, Western Australia. The girl was attempting to cross the road when a black Honda Civic sedan hit her at high speed. Emergency Response
Paramedics arrived quickly and transported the teen to Royal Perth Hospital. WA Police secured the area, reviewed mobile phone footage from the scene, and began collecting evidence. Police Commissioner Col Blanch confirmed that officers had impounded another vehicle earlier in the night at the same location.
Investigation
WA Police are continuing to investigate the crash. Key focus areas include:
- Speed of the vehicle at the time of the incident
- Conditions on Camfield Drive during the car meet dispersal
- Event organiser liability and future regulation of “Mondaymeets”
The 25-year-old driver is assisting police. The incident has prompted cancellation of similar meets planned later in the week.
