Luxury Yacht Strikes Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas in Nassau: Incident on 11 December 2024

On 11 December 2024, the luxury superyacht My Aurora collided with Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas while the cruise ship was docked in Nassau, Bahamas. The My Aurora reportedly lost power and drifted into the moored vessel, striking one of its lifeboats. No injuries were reported, and the Allure of the Seas sustained only minor damage that does not affect its seaworthiness.

The Allure of the Seas experienced a brief operational delay of approximately one hour but resumed its planned itinerary and returned to Miami as scheduled. The My Aurora sustained more significant damage to its hull, superstructure, and communications equipment during the collision.

The collision occurred when the My Aurora lost power while in Nassau Harbour and drifted into the starboard side of the docked Allure of the Seas, making contact with one of the cruise ship's lifeboat installations. The impact caused minor structural damage to the cruise vessel and more substantial damage to the yacht, including hull breaching, superstructure deformation, and loss of communications equipment, with some components falling into the water.
