Introduction
A luxury superyacht, the My Aurora, collided with Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas while the cruise ship was docked in Nassau, Bahamas, on December 11, 2024. The incident resulted in minor damage to the Allure of the Seas and more significant damage to the yacht.
Details of the Incident
The collision occurred when the My Aurora reportedly lost power and drifted into the Allure of the Seas, striking one of the ship’s lifeboats. The Allure of the Seas sustained minor damage, while the yacht suffered damage to its hull, superstructure, and communications equipment, with some components falling into the water.
Operational Context
No injuries were reported. The Allure of the Seas experienced a minor delay of approximately one hour but resumed its planned itinerary and is expected to return to Miami as scheduled. Royal Caribbean has confirmed that the damage to the Allure of the Seas is minor and does not affect its seaworthiness.
