On Tuesday, 17 September 2024, a teenage worker sustained significant lower leg injuries after being struck by a falling tyre at the Moorvale open-cut coal mine near Coppabella in central Queensland.
Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ) was notified and dispatched an inspector to investigate. The mine operator has isolated the incident site and confirmed full cooperation with the investigation.
Resources Safety and Health Queensland is appealing for any workers, contractors or witnesses present at the Moorvale coal mine on 17 September 2024 who have information about the incident to come forward. Reports can be made confidentially to RSHQ on 1300 362 128.
