Introduction
A tragic accident at a construction site in Upper Coomera, Gold Coast, resulted in the death of a man after becoming trapped between a scissor lift and a ceiling.
Details of the Incident
The incident occurred around 9:10 AM on Monday at a site on Days Rd, where construction was underway for new facilities at Coomera Anglican College. The man, whose age has not been disclosed, was operating a scissor lift when he became trapped between the lift and the ceiling structure.
Emergency Response and Outcome
Emergency services were promptly called to the scene. Although the man was freed from the entrapment before Queensland Fire and Emergency Services arrived, his injuries were severe. Paramedics at the scene assessed him but were unable to save his life, and he was pronounced dead at the site.
Investigation and Safety Measures
The incident is currently under investigation by the police’s forensic crash unit as a workplace accident. This investigation will determine the cause of the accident and whether there were any breaches of workplace safety regulations.
