Introduction
Six cruise ships remain berthed in ports across the Arabian Gulf following the suspension of regional cruise operations in late February 2026. Ongoing security concerns and disruptions to maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz have delayed planned repositioning voyages for multiple operators.

Details of the Operational Situation

Affected Vessels:

  • MSC Euribia — berthed in Dubai since February 27.
  • Celestyal Journey — currently alongside in Doha.
  • Celestyal Discovery — docked in Dubai.
  • Mein Schiff 4 — berthed in Abu Dhabi.
  • Mein Schiff 5 — located in Doha.
  • Aroya — remains in Dubai following its winter deployment.

Reason for Disruption:

  • The disruption is linked to heightened geopolitical tensions affecting maritime transit through the Strait of Hormuz.
  • The corridor, which connects the Arabian Gulf to global shipping routes, has experienced reduced vessel traffic.
  • Cruise lines suspended departures and repositioning voyages as a precaution.

Port and Operational Support:

  • Ports in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha continue to provide berthing, provisioning, and logistical support.
  • Crew members remain onboard to maintain vessel operations while ships are held in port.

Passenger Arrangements:

  • All passengers have been safely disembarked and repatriated.
  • Cruise lines have coordinated travel arrangements amid reduced flight capacity in the region.

Future Deployment Plans:

  • MSC Euribia is scheduled to reposition to Northern Europe for a Norwegian fjords season.
  • Celestyal Journey and Celestyal Discovery are expected to relocate to Greece for Eastern Mediterranean itineraries.
  • Mein Schiff 4 and Mein Schiff 5 are planned for Mediterranean operations.
  • Aroya is expected to resume sailings from Jeddah before transitioning to Mediterranean routes.

Current Status:

  • All vessels remain in port pending clearance for safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
  • Cruise operators continue to monitor developments and coordinate with maritime authorities regarding future movements.
