Blue Star 2 bomb threat caused the ferry to divert to Lavrio, Greece, on June 12, 2026, while it was sailing from Piraeus toward destinations in the southeastern Aegean.
The vessel had departed Piraeus for scheduled calls at Syros, Patmos, Leros, Kalymnos, Kos and Rhodes when authorities received the threat. The captain was instructed to alter course and proceed to Lavrio so security procedures could be carried out. Blue Star 2 was carrying 952 passengers and 98 crew members at the time.
Explosives specialists and sniffer-dog units were expected to inspect the ferry after its arrival in Lavrio. The available report did not identify the source of the threat or provide an immediate outcome for the inspection.
