The Port of Volos in Greece is undergoing debris removal operations to restore its cruise pier after significant damage caused by the 2023 floods. The project is expected to be completed by March 31st, 2025, allowing the port to once again accommodate cruise ships.

The floods deposited a massive amount of debris in the port’s turning basin, reducing its operating depth and hindering ship docking. The debris removal will restore the pier’s operating depth to 9.5 meters, enabling it to handle modern cruise vessels.

The Port Authority of Volos is actively encouraging cruise lines to include Volos in their itineraries for the upcoming season, emphasizing the port’s restored functionality and readiness to welcome passengers.
