Introduction
ms Zaandam’s itinerary was disrupted in Alaska on June 5, 2026, after a propulsion malfunction reduced the ship’s speed.
What Happened
The vessel remained overnight in Juneau while the technical issue was assessed. The reduced speed made it impossible to complete the planned itinerary as scheduled, including calls at Skagway, Glacier Bay and Ketchikan.
Response and Investigation
The ship returned to Vancouver after the affected voyage, and the cruise line advised guests about compensation arrangements. No injuries or deaths were reported.
