What happened
Disney Cruise Line (DCL) has announced a three-month postponement of the maiden voyage of its newest ship, Disney Adventure, citing unforeseen shipyard delays. Originally scheduled to debut on 15 December 2025, the vessel's inaugural sailing has been rescheduled to 10 March 2026, to allow additional time for final construction, outfitting, and system trials at Meyer Werft's facilities in Germany.
All sailings through 12 March 2026, have been cancelled. Affected passengers will receive automatic refunds and a 50% future cruise credit, with those rebooked on the rescheduled maiden voyage receiving a 50% fare reduction.
Details of the delay
The Disney Adventure, extensively reimagined from a previously incomplete hull, remains under final construction and outfitting at Meyer Werft's Papenburg shipyard and Wismar facilities in Germany. Disney cited "unforeseen delays" in the build process as the reason for the postponement. The three-month extension ensures full readiness of all shipboard systems and interior finishes before delivery.
