Introduction
Celebrity Cruises has announced multiple itinerary changes for the Celebrity Beyond, following ongoing issues with the vessel’s cruising speed. The adjustments, which affect Eastern and Western Caribbean voyages scheduled through October 2025, come in the wake of a cancelled July 20 sailing and recent maintenance work at a shipyard in Freeport, Bahamas.
Details of the Operational Issue
Speed Limitations and Recent Repairs:
- Celebrity Beyond was briefly taken out of service in July 2025 for technical repairs at Freeport after propulsion-related performance issues caused its July 20 departure to be cancelled.
- Despite maintenance efforts, the ship continues to experience reduced sailing speed, prompting port schedule changes to maintain safe and timely operations.
- The vessel resumed passenger service from Miami on July 27, 2025, with reduced speed limits still in effect.
Itinerary Modifications:
- Passengers scheduled for affected sailings in August, September, and October 2025 have been informed of revised schedules.
- For example, the September 7, 2025 itinerary now includes:
- Falmouth, Jamaica – Wednesday, 08:00 to 16:00
- Cozumel, Mexico – Friday, 11:00 to 19:30
- George Town, Grand Cayman – Updated hours from 07:00 to 16:00
- Guests with pre-booked shore excursions will have their arrangements automatically updated to match the revised port times.
Guest Communication and Future Outlook:
- Celebrity Cruises stated that the adjustments are necessary to deliver a smooth and safe sailing experience without compromising itinerary quality.
- The line has communicated directly with all affected guests, emphasizing that itinerary integrity remains a top priority despite technical setbacks.
- Celebrity Beyond is next scheduled for dry dock in November 2026, with no sailings listed between November 1–17, signaling a planned period for a major technical overhaul—the ship’s first since launching in 2022.
