What happened
On Tuesday, January 22, 2024, a Jetstar Airways Airbus A320-232 registered VH-VGJ was involved in a collision with a utility vehicle at Sydney-Kingsford Smith International Airport in New South Wales. The incident occurred at approximately 05:30 am local time as the aircraft was being towed to a gate.
During the pushback and towing operation, the A320 made contact with a utility vehicle operated by a security contractor. The collision resulted in minor damage to the aircraft's No. 2 engine nacelle. The driver of the utility vehicle was uninjured but was transported to hospital for assessment as a precautionary measure.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) was notified of the occurrence and is gathering information about the incident.
