What happened

Incident Overview

On Tuesday, October 10, 2023, a fatal two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Richmond Drive and Fitzpatrick Street in Wilsonton, Toowoomba, Queensland. An e-scooter and a Holden Commodore collided at approximately 11:00am, resulting in the death of the e-scooter rider.

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit attended the scene and conducted a full investigation. Following their examination, a 20-year-old driver from Harlaxton was charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Richmond Drive and Fitzpatrick Street, Wilsonton, at approximately 11:00am on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.

Emergency Response

Queensland Police and emergency services attended the scene at Wilsonton. The e-scooter rider was declared deceased at the scene. The 20-year-old driver of the Holden Commodore was not physically injured and assisted police with their investigation.

Investigation

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit led the investigation into the collision. Following their examination, the 20-year-old driver from Harlaxton was charged with one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death. He was expected to appear at Toowoomba Magistrates Court on April 29, 2024. Police appealed for witnesses and anyone with dashcam or CCTV vision of the incident to come forward.
