Incident Overview
Queensland Police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash on the Bruce Highway near South Port Road at Stuart on Monday, 28 September 2026. The preliminary police account states that at about 6am, a white Hyundai i30 and a white Mazda B2500 utility slowed because of livestock on the highway. A Kawasaki motorcycle then clipped the Hyundai and struck the rear of the Mazda.
The information released by police is preliminary and does not identify a final cause of the crash or any legal responsibility.
Injuries and Response
The motorcycle rider, a 44-year-old Alice River man, was taken to Townsville University Hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased. Police said no one else was physically injured.
Police Investigation and Appeal
