The Forensic Crash Unit are continuing to investigate a fatal traffic crash that involved three vehicles at Mt Coot-Tha in Brisbane’s north yesterday afternoon, May 1.

Around 3:10pm, emergency services were called to the Legacy Way Tunnel at Mt Coot-Tha following reports of a serious traffic crash.

Investigations indicate that a black Audi Se was travelling northbound in the tunnel before it crashed with a Mazda, and a Volkswagen.

The driver of the Audi, a 56-year-old Oxenford man, sustained critical injuries as a result of the crash and was declared deceased at the scene.

The passenger in the Mazda, a 24-year-old Anula woman, also sustained critical injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Mazda, a 23-year-old South Plympton woman, sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Womens Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the truck, a 45-year-old Brunswick man, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Parts of The Legacy Way Tunnel were closed for several hours overnight but have since been reopened.

The Forensic Crash Unit continues to appeal to anyone who saw the Audi prior to the incident, or who may have any further information that could assist police, to come forward.
