A 12-year-old boy is in a critical condition following a serious single vehicle traffic crash at Wakerley this morning.

Preliminary information suggests around 9.40am a red 2005 holden commodore was travelling east along Manly Road near the intersection of Hargreaves Road when it has left the road and struck traffic lights.

Bystanders, including an off-duty police officer provided immediate assistance, and the boy was transported to hospital with critical injuries.

Two men, including the driver of the vehicle were transported for minor injuries only. Investigators are appealing for witnesses, especially those with dashcam vision of the crash, or the moments leading up to it to contact police.
