Incident Overview

On Thursday, September 22, 2022, a serious single-vehicle traffic crash occurred at Wakerley, Queensland, leaving a 12-year-old boy in critical condition. At approximately 9:40am, a red 2005 Holden Commodore travelling east along Manly Road near the intersection of Hargreaves Road left the roadway and struck traffic lights.

Bystanders, including an off-duty police officer, provided immediate assistance at the scene. Three people were transported to hospital: the boy with critical injuries, and two men—including the driver—with minor injuries.

Queensland Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash. Investigators are appealing for witnesses, particularly motorists with dashcam footage of the incident or the moments immediately preceding it, to come forward with information.
