What happened

Incident Overview

On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, a serious collision occurred on Main Road in Maroochydore, Queensland, involving a car and a 12-year-old girl riding an e-scooter. The girl was transported to hospital in critical condition following the incident.

Emergency Response

Queensland Ambulance Service attended the scene and transported the injured girl to hospital in critical condition. Queensland Police and emergency services secured the scene on Main Road.

Investigation

The Sunshine Coast Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the collision. Initial investigations indicate the girl was riding an e-scooter on the footpath when the Kia 4 pulled out of a driveway onto Main Road and collided with her. The 21-year-old driver is assisting police with enquiries. Police are appealing for any motorists with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.
