What happened

Incident Overview

On Sunday, September 11, 2025, a serious collision between a motorcycle and a car occurred at the intersection of Central Avenue and Yandina Coolum Road in Coolum Beach, Queensland. The motorcycle rider sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital, while the car driver escaped physical injury.

Queensland Police attended the scene at approximately 7:30pm local time. The Forensic Crash Unit has assumed the investigation into the circumstances of the crash.

Emergency Response

Queensland Police and emergency services responded to the scene at the intersection. The motorcycle rider was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital for treatment of head injuries and suspected fractures. The car driver, a 17-year-old, was assessed at the scene and was not physically injured.

Investigation

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is leading the investigation into the collision. Police are examining the circumstances of how the motorcycle and car came to collide at the intersection while travelling in opposite directions. The investigation is ongoing.
