What happened

Incident Overview

On Saturday, October 8, 2022, a serious single-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Hornibrook Esplanade and Elisabeth Avenue in Clontarf, Queensland. A vehicle left the roadway and struck a light pole, resulting in life-threatening injuries to the driver.

Emergency services attended the scene at approximately 11:30pm local time. The driver was extracted from the vehicle and transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment of critical injuries.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Hornibrook Esplanade and Elisabeth Avenue, Clontarf, at approximately 11:30pm on Saturday, October 8, 2022.

Emergency Response

Emergency services attended the scene and extracted the driver from the vehicle. The injured driver was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The passenger did not require hospital treatment.

Investigation

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is leading the investigation into the circumstances of the crash. Police are appealing for any witnesses, motorists with dashcam footage, or persons with CCTV footage from the area to come forward with information.
