Incident Overview

A 16-year-old learner driver was taken to hospital after a crash at the intersection of Kawana Way and Capital Place at Birtinya.

Queensland Police alleged that a red Holden Commodore was being driven dangerously on Kawana Way at about 7.40am on Tuesday, 25 August 2026, before it collided with a grey Toyota Corolla entering Capital Place. The Commodore then travelled into trees in the median strip.

People and Injuries

  • The Toyota Corolla was driven by a 16-year-old learner driver from Peachester, who was taken to hospital in a stable condition with injuries not yet known.
  • A 45-year-old woman and a 14-year-old girl travelling in the Corolla were not physically injured.
  • The 25-year-old Palmview woman driving the Commodore was taken to hospital with a broken wrist.
  • A 22-year-old Sippy Downs woman travelling in the Commodore was not physically injured.

Police Appeal
