Incident Overview

A 74-year-old Canadian woman died after a collision involving a moped and a car at Horseshoe Bay on Magnetic Island.

  • Time: About 11.50am
  • Location: Horseshoe Bay Road, between Heath Street and Henry Lawson Street, Horseshoe Bay

Vehicles Involved

  • A moped ridden by the 74-year-old woman
  • A car whose driver was not physically injured

Injuries and Fatalities

The moped rider sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased at the scene. Queensland Police said the driver of the car was not physically injured.

Emergency Response

Emergency services were called to Horseshoe Bay Road following the collision.

Police Investigation

The Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.

Traffic Impact

Police advised people in the Horseshoe Bay area to expect delays on Horseshoe Bay Road and, where possible, consider travelling on foot.
