What happened

Incident Overview

On Friday, September 30, 2022, a fatal two-vehicle collision occurred on Maryborough Cooloola Road at Tuan Forest, Fraser Coast, Queensland, claiming the life of an 18-year-old driver. The crash involved a green Nissan 4WD ute travelling toward Tin Can Bay and an oncoming truck at approximately 6:40am local time.

Queensland Police and emergency services attended the scene. The driver of the ute was pronounced deceased at the scene, while two other occupants sustained injuries.

The collision occurred on Maryborough Cooloola Road at Tuan Forest, Fraser Coast, at approximately 6:40am on Friday morning, September 30, 2022.

Emergency Response

Queensland Police and emergency services attended the scene at Tuan Forest following the collision. The 17-year-old passenger and the truck driver were transported to hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Investigation

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash. Investigators are seeking to speak with anyone who witnessed three 4WD utes travelling together between Harvey Bay through Maryborough towards Tin Can Bay early on the morning of September 30. Police are also appealing for any motorists with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
