A 25-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving causing death following a traffic crash which claimed the life of a 39-year-old woman in Sunshine Acres overnight, March 31.

It will be alleged at approximately 10.15pm, a white Ford Escape was travelling along Booral Road, between Condor Drive and Moorabinda Drive, when it struck a Mitsubishi Mirage.

The driver and sole occupant of the Mitsubishi, a 39-year-old Sunshine Acres woman, died at the scene.

The driver of the Ford was taken into police custody a short time later before being transported to Hervey Bay Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police will allege the Ford was stolen from outside a Main Street charity organisation in Pialba between March 28 and 31.

The 25-year-old Morayfield man has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death whilst adversely affected by an intoxicating substance while excessively speeding, stealing, possessing dangerous drugs, and wearing of approved seatbelts by drivers, and two counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and driving unlicenced.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Hervey Bay Magistrates Court tomorrow, April 2.

Police are appealing to anyone who saw the Ford travelling in the Fraser Coast area prior to the crash to come forward.

Witnesses or anyone with relevant vision are also urged to contact police.

Investigations are continuing.
