What happened

Incident Overview

On Tuesday, 6 September 2022, a fatal single-vehicle traffic crash occurred at Raceview, Ipswich, Queensland, claiming the life of a 41-year-old woman. The collision happened at approximately 10:30am when a blue Hyundai Getz left the roadway on Cascade Street, struck a power pole, and came to rest in a nearby driveway.

Bystanders at the scene provided immediate assistance to both occupants. The driver, a 41-year-old woman from Ipswich, died of her injuries at the scene. A male passenger, also aged in his forties, sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.

Emergency Response

Emergency services attended the scene promptly following the crash. Bystanders provided immediate first aid to both occupants before the arrival of paramedics. The injured male passenger was transported to hospital by ambulance for treatment of serious injuries.

Investigation

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit investigators are leading the investigation into the circumstances of the crash. Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly motorists who may have dashcam footage of the collision or the moments immediately preceding it. Investigations are ongoing.
