Incident Overview
A man has died following a head-on crash on the Bruce Highway at Burpengary on the night of 17 February. Police allege a white Isuzu truck was travelling southbound in the northbound lanes when it collided with a northbound white Honda Accord, which caught fire.

Injuries/Fatalities

  • Fatalities:
    • 26-year-old Caboolture man, driver of the Honda Accord, declared deceased at the scene.
  • Injuries:
    • 46-year-old Redcliffe man, driver of the Isuzu truck, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital.

Emergency Response

  • Police and emergency services were called to the crash scene about 10.30pm.
  • The Isuzu driver was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
  • Bruce Highway northbound lanes were closed for several hours before reopening; diversions were in place while the scene was cleared.

Police Investigation
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision, including reports the Isuzu was among several vehicles seen travelling southbound in the northbound lanes before the crash. Police say a number of vehicles remain outstanding.
