What happened

Incident Overview

On Sunday, September 11, 2022, a fatal motorcycle crash occurred at New Beith, Queensland, claiming the life of a 15-year-old boy riding a trail bike. The incident happened in the early afternoon when the young rider failed to negotiate a sweeping bend on New Beith Road, left the roadway, and struck a tree.

A nearby rider witnessed the crash and immediately raised the alarm. Despite the rapid response of emergency services, the 15-year-old could not be revived. Queensland Police are investigating the circumstances, including reports that a utility vehicle was observed driving near or between the two dirt bikes prior to the collision.

Emergency Response

Emergency services attended the scene following the alert raised by a nearby rider. Despite rapid response and resuscitation efforts, the 15-year-old could not be revived and was declared deceased at the scene.

Investigation

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is leading the investigation into the circumstances of the crash. Investigators are examining the road conditions, the rider’s actions, and the involvement of the utility vehicle that was reported to be driving near or between the two dirt bikes immediately prior to the incident. Police are seeking to identify the driver and occupants of the utility vehicle as part of their inquiries.
