What happened

Incident Overview

On Monday, September 12, 2022, a 28-year-old Mount Morgan man died after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into a vacant block of land on Central Street. The incident occurred around 10:50pm local time when the rider was travelling west along Central Street near Pattison Street.

The motorcyclist was transported to Rockhampton Base Hospital with injuries to his arms and chest but subsequently passed away from his injuries. Police investigations revealed the rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The crash occurred on Central Street, Mount Morgan, near the intersection with Pattison Street, at approximately 10:50pm on Monday, September 12, 2022. The motorcyclist lost control at the crest of the road and crashed into a vacant block of land.

Emergency Response

Emergency services attended the scene at Mount Morgan. The motorcyclist was transported to Rockhampton Base Hospital where he received treatment for injuries to his arms and chest.

Investigation

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident. Police investigations have established that the rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The Forensic Crash Unit is appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has dashcam footage of the incident to come forward. Reference number: QP2201568494.
