What happened

Incident Overview

On Wednesday, August 24, 2022, a 22-year-old man from Gympie died following a single-vehicle crash at Lake Macdonald on the Sunshine Coast. The vehicle left the roadway at approximately 10:30pm on Cooroy Noosa Road and struck a power pole and a tree.

The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
