What happened

Incident Overview

An e-scooter rider died following a crash in Fortitude Valley on Friday, 30 June 2023. The incident occurred at approximately 3:35am when the rider came off the device near the intersection of Alfred and Gipps Streets while travelling south along Barry Parade.

Companions of the rider provided immediate first aid, however the rider sustained critical injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Queensland Police attended and the Forensic Crash Unit has commenced an investigation into the circumstances.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Alfred and Gipps Streets on Barry Parade, Fortitude Valley, at approximately 3:35am on Friday, 30 June 2023.

Investigation

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the incident. Police are appealing for witnesses, passing motorists, and businesses with relevant dashcam and CCTV footage to come forward with information.
