Incident Overview

On Wednesday, 31 August 2022, a fatal two-vehicle collision occurred on the Bruce Highway near Barratta in the Burdekin area, claiming the life of one driver. The crash happened in the early hours of the morning between Good Road and Lochinvar Road.

Queensland Police were called to the scene at approximately 4:00am local time. One occupant was transported to Ayr Hospital where he was pronounced deceased, while a second occupant sustained no physical injuries. The Bruce Highway was closed in both directions until midday to allow emergency services and forensic investigators to conduct a full scene examination.
