Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash in Barratta in the Burdekin area early this morning.

Around 4am, police were called to a crash on the Bruce Highway, between Good Road and Lochinvar Road.

A 68-year-old Tasmanian man was pronounced deceased after being transported to Ayr Hospital.

A 39-year-old Giru man was not physically injured in the crash.

The Bruce Highway was closed until midday.

Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and appealing for anyone in the area between 3.30am and 4am with dashcam vision to contact police.
