Incident Overview
A person was rescued after becoming trapped in a grain silo on Thompson Street in Dunolly, Victoria, on 6 October 2026. The Country Fire Authority (CFA) reported a multi-agency response. Its account does not identify the person as an employee or explain how the entrapment began.
Location and Time
CFA received the call at about 3.23pm. It said the silo was roughly 10 per cent full when the person became trapped. GrainCorp was among the organisations involved in the response.
Grain Silo Rescue
Crews from Dunolly, Maryborough and Bealiba attended with CFA’s Oscar One specialist rescue unit. Fire Rescue Victoria, Victoria Police, the State Emergency Service and Ambulance Victoria also took part. Responders stopped more grain from closing around the person before bringing them out. CFA declared the incident safe at 7.08pm.
Injuries and Immediate Outcome
CFA said the person was safely handed to Ambulance Victoria. Its public account does not give an injury diagnosis, identify a hospital transfer or describe any later medical outcome.
Investigation and Safety Response
The CFA release does not establish the cause of the entrapment or say whether a workplace-safety regulator opened an investigation. No finding about responsibility can be drawn from the rescue account alone.
