CDC reported in May 2023 that a Norovirus outbreak infected a total of 160 passengers (out of 1970, or 8.1%) and 26 crew members (out of 816, or 3.19%) on a voyage from May 7 to May 21, 2023.

The most prevalent symptoms were vomiting and diarrhea. Everyone who was ill was quarantined in their cabins.

The accident occurred during a 14-day “Great Alaskan Explorer Cruise” (roundtrip from Vancouver) with ports of call in Alaska (Kodiak Island, Anchorage/Denali NP, Valdez, Glacier Bay, Sitka/Baranof Island, and Ketchikan/Revillagigedo Island) and British Columbia (Prince Rupert/Kaien Island, Victoria, and Vancouver).
