Introduction
An overboard incident on the Explorer of the Seas led to an intensive search in the Adriatic Sea on August 9, 2024, involving a young British male passenger.
Details of the Incident
The incident occurred early in the morning while the ship was sailing between Dubrovnik and Zadar, Croatia. The man overboard (MOB) alarm was activated at approximately 5 AM local time. The ship’s crew, along with Croatian Coast Guard, promptly initiated a search and rescue operation.
Search and Rescue Operations
Explorer of the Seas altered its course, deploying tenders and rescue boats in a thorough search coordinated with local patrol boats. Despite the exhaustive efforts, the young man’s body was not found, and the ship had to cancel its scheduled stop in Zadar.
