Tragic Overboard Incident on Explorer of the Seas - 9 August 2024

On 9 August 2024, a young British male passenger went overboard from the Explorer of the Seas while the vessel was sailing between Dubrovnik and Zadar in the Adriatic Sea, Croatia. The man overboard alarm was activated at approximately 5:00 AM local time, triggering an intensive search and rescue operation involving the ship's crew and the Croatian Coast Guard. Despite exhaustive search efforts, the passenger was not recovered.

The vessel altered course immediately and deployed tenders and rescue boats in coordination with local Croatian patrol boats. The scheduled stop in Zadar was cancelled as a result of the incident.
