Tragic Overboard Incident on Carnival Dream - 9 August 2024

On 9 August 2024, a female crew member went missing at sea aboard the Carnival Dream while the vessel was returning to Texas from Mexico. The crew member was reported missing at approximately 2:30 AM local time, approximately 95 nautical miles northeast of Río Lagartos, Yucatan. Despite extensive search and rescue operations coordinated by Mexican and United States maritime authorities, the crew member was not located.

The Carnival Dream had departed Cozumel on 8 August at 4:00 PM. Maritime authorities in both Mexico and the United States were notified immediately and launched a coordinated search operation.

The crew member was discovered missing during the early morning hours of 9 August 2024. An onboard search was initiated immediately without success. The vessel's position at the time of discovery was approximately 95 nautical miles northeast of Río Lagartos, Yucatan, in international waters.

The search and rescue operation was led by Frigate Captain Jose Antonio Solano Claustro of Yucatan's Harbormaster Office. Both Mexican and United States Coast Guards coordinated extensive search efforts. Alerts were issued to the maritime community to assist in locating the missing crew member. Despite these coordinated efforts, the crew member's body was not recovered.

The search operation has concluded without locating the missing crew member. The Carnival Dream continued its return voyage to Texas.
