A devastating incident at the Mali Losinj ferry terminal in Croatia has resulted in the deaths of three Jadrolinija ferry crew members. The accident, which occurred on the afternoon of Sunday, August 11, involved the collapse of the entry ramp of the ferry Lastovo.

The fatal event unfolded around 3:00 p.m. local time when the entry ramp of the Lastovo unexpectedly fell while crew members were performing operational duties. This tragic occurrence led to immediate casualties and severe injuries among the crew.

Response and Casualties

Local emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene. Despite rapid response efforts, three sailors succumbed to their injuries, and another was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. Jadrolinija, the ferry operator, has publicly expressed its profound sorrow and extended condolences to the families of the deceased.

At the time of the accident, the Lastovo was docked at Mali Losinj, operating on the state ferry line from Zadar to various destinations including Ist, Olib, Silba, Premuda, and Mali Losinj. The Lastovo, a roll-on/roll-off passenger ferry, has been part of the Jadrolinija fleet since 1978 and was originally built in Japan in 1969.
