Introduction
A second norovirus outbreak was reported aboard National Geographic Sea Bird during an Alaska voyage in June 2026.
What Happened
The outbreak affected 19 of the ship’s 68 passengers and one of its 27 crew members. It followed an earlier gastrointestinal illness report during the vessel’s Alaska operating season.
Response and Investigation
The vessel implemented enhanced cleaning, isolation and other public-health measures. The outbreak was reported through the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Vessel Sanitation Program. No deaths were reported.
