Introduction
A 66-year-old woman is missing after reportedly falling overboard from Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas cruise ship on the evening of October 22, 2024. A search and rescue operation involving the U.S. Coast Guard and the Royal Bahamas Defense Force is currently underway.
Details of the Incident
The incident occurred around 9:40 p.m. while the ship was sailing approximately 17 miles from Nassau, Bahamas. The Coast Guard deployed an HC-144 airplane and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter to assist in the search efforts. As of Wednesday morning, October 23rd, the passenger remains missing.
Operational Context
Allure of the Seas departed from Miami on Monday, October 21st, on a themed cruise organized by Taylor Swift fans under the name “In My Cruise Era.” The voyage featured various fan events inspired by Swift’s Eras Tour. It is currently unknown whether the missing woman was a participant in this themed cruise.
