Passenger Overboard Incident on Liberty Of The Seas: Incident on 4 April 2024

On 4 April 2024, a 22-year-old male passenger went overboard from the cruise ship Liberty of the Seas (Royal Caribbean International) while the vessel was navigating between Cuba and Grand Inagua Island in the Bahamas during the final leg of a 4-day Eastern Caribbean cruise. The passenger was observed going overboard by family members from an open deck. Despite a comprehensive search and rescue operation coordinated with the US Coast Guard involving both sea and air assets, the young man was not recovered.

The passenger's father and brother witnessed him going overboard and immediately alerted the ship's crew. The master initiated emergency procedures and a full search and rescue operation was launched in coordination with the US Coast Guard. Both sea and air assets were deployed to search the area, but despite these efforts, the passenger was not located.
