A passenger was medically evacuated from the Crown Princess cruise ship on January 8th, 2025, while the vessel was sailing near the Isle of Pines, New Caledonia. The passenger required urgent medical attention, prompting a rescue operation by the French Air Force.
The incident occurred on the evening of January 7th, with the Crown Princess positioned approximately 210 nautical miles southeast of the Isle of Pines. A French Air Force Puma helicopter was dispatched to the ship, and after consultation with the onboard medical team, it was determined that the passenger needed to be transferred to Noumea for advanced care.
The complex overnight operation concluded successfully at 5:30 a.m. on January 8th, with the patient admitted to Medipole Hospital in Noumea.
