Passenger Injuries (overboard) on Mariner Of The Seas on 25th June 2023

On 25 June 2023, a 42-year-old female passenger fell overboard from her cabin balcony on deck 10 of the Mariner of the Seas while the vessel was at sea approximately 30 miles (50 kilometres) south-east of Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The ship immediately contacted local authorities and initiated a search and rescue operation, which successfully located and recovered the passenger alive in excellent health.

The United States Coast Guard Sector San Juan (Puerto Rico) was notified at 5:45 pm Dominican time (21:45 UTC). The passenger was hospitalised in Willemstad, Curaçao on 26 June for observation, and the vessel continued its scheduled itinerary without disruption.

Following the overboard report, the ship promptly initiated search and rescue operations in coordination with local maritime authorities. The passenger was discovered and recovered alive, demonstrating the effectiveness of the immediate response protocols. No medevac was required during the rescue phase, and the passenger was returned to the vessel in excellent health before being transferred to hospital care at the next port of call.
