Introduction

An 83-year-old passenger died after becoming unresponsive during a snorkeling excursion connected to Norwegian Getaway at Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas, on May 3, 2026.

What Happened

The passenger became unresponsive while snorkeling or swimming at the destination. His son found him, and lifeguards and Norwegian Getaway medical staff attempted resuscitation. The passenger did not respond.

Response and Investigation

Local authorities and medical personnel attended the incident. The circumstances were reported to authorities, while Norwegian Cruise Line provided support to the passenger’s family. The passenger’s identity was not released in the initial report.
