Carnival Australia, the management company for P&O Australia, confirmed that the passenger’s death resulted from what appears to be a medical situation that occurred while he was swimming.

Operational Context

The unfortunate incident took place as part of the 8-day “Pacific Island Hopper Cruise,” with the cruise itinerary spanning from September 22 to September 30. The voyage originated from Sydney, New South Wales, and included stops in Vanuatu, particularly Mystery Island on September 26, and New Caledonia, with a visit to Noumea on September 27.
