Introduction

Ambition was placed under health restrictions in Bordeaux, France, after a norovirus outbreak affected passengers and crew from May 11, 2026.

What Happened

The operator reported 49 active gastrointestinal illness cases, involving 48 passengers and one crew member, aboard a vessel carrying more than 1,700 people. Testing confirmed norovirus.

Response and Investigation

Passengers and crew were subject to enhanced hygiene and health measures while authorities assessed the outbreak. A passenger death was reported during the wider incident period, but the operator said it was not linked to the illness and the cause had not been established; it is therefore not recorded as an outbreak death in this log.
