Introduction
A norovirus outbreak affected passengers and crew aboard Ruby Princess during a 20-day Alaska voyage that ended on July 2, 2026.
What Happened
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recorded gastrointestinal illness in 102 passengers and 23 crew members during the voyage, which operated from June 12 to July 2. The ship carried approximately 3,032 passengers and 1,144 crew members.
Response and Investigation
Princess Cruises reported that the illness was generally mild. The company and the vessel’s crew implemented enhanced sanitation, isolation and other outbreak-control measures. No deaths or major operational disruption were reported.
