MSC Orchestra passenger medevac operation was carried out on December 31, 2025, after a 56-year-old woman reportedly suffered a cerebrovascular stroke while the ship was sailing through the Gulf of Asinara off Sardinia, Italy.
MSC Orchestra was en route from Alicante to Valencia when the ship’s medical team sought shoreside care. The vessel adjusted course to meet an Italian Coast Guard search-and-rescue patrol boat approximately 5 nautical miles off Porto Torres. The passenger was transferred to the patrol boat without incident, taken ashore and transported by ambulance to a hospital in Sassari.
After the transfer, MSC Orchestra was cleared to continue to Valencia. The incident occurred during an eight-day Mediterranean cruise roundtrip from Civitavecchia.
