A 28-year-old worker was injured in a knife attack at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, where the Star Princess cruise ship is under construction. The incident occurred on January 20th, 2025, during regular working hours.

The victim, a Bangladeshi plumber employed by a contractor, was attacked by a 24-year-old colleague, also a Bangladeshi national, with a fruit knife. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital.

The alleged attacker was apprehended by police and charged with aggravated assault. The motive for the attack is under investigation, but initial reports suggest a personal dispute.

Fincantieri condemned the incident and is monitoring the situation. The Star Princess, a new LNG-powered cruise ship for Princess Cruises, is nearing completion at the shipyard.
