A tragic event unfolded on April 12, 2024, when a male crew member intentionally went overboard from the ms Rotterdam. The ship was navigating the waters between Cuba and Key West, South Florida, at the time of the incident.

Despite immediate efforts to locate him, a subsequent search and rescue operation led by the US Coast Guard did not result in the recovery of his body.
