Celebrity Equinox medevac diverted an Antarctic voyage to King George Island on January 10, 2026, so a passenger could be transferred for medical reasons.

According to a passenger report received by CruiseMapper, the ship cancelled its scheduled Elephant Island visit and proceeded to King George Island to work with the Chilean Navy.

The report said the passenger was transported by naval tender to a Chilean base on the island and then took a flight from the base’s airfield to Punta Arenas, Chile. The report did not confirm the passenger’s age or medical condition.

Celebrity Equinox later substituted Half Moon Bay for the cancelled Elephant Island call. The incident occurred during a 14-day Antarctica Cruise from Buenos Aires, scheduled from January 3 to 17, 2026.

This log records one reported passenger medical evacuation and an itinerary change. The available account does not report a death.
