Introduction

A-Rosa Sena was involved in an allision with Amsterdamsebrug during a departure transit on March 25, 2026. A crew member sustained minor injuries, and passengers were later evacuated after the vessel lost electrical power and propulsion.

What Happened

The river cruise vessel had departed Amsterdam and was travelling from the IJ toward the Amsterdam–Rhine Canal. At approximately 9:30 p.m., the ship struck the underside of Amsterdamsebrug. The vessel’s wheelhouse, which was designed to be lowered beneath bridges, was reportedly still in the elevated position. The impact crushed the wheelhouse structure and bent the radar mast.

Response and Evacuation

The helmsman sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment. No passenger injuries were reported. Several hours later, the vessel lost electrical power and was left without lighting. Authorities then arranged for everyone on board to evacuate. Passengers were escorted ashore and transported onward by buses arranged by the operator.

Investigation and Aftermath

A-Rosa Sena could not continue its scheduled voyage because of the damage and was expected to be towed back to Amsterdam. The canal was partly closed while the bridge was inspected, although the bridge was later reopened to road traffic after being declared safe.
